Blancpain hits the Spa-Francorchamps track

Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo
Spa-Francorchamps (B), July 30th – 31st 2010

The Watch Quote™ - August 2nd, 2010

It’s an eventful, action-packed weekend for Blancpain on Belgium’s legendary Spa-Francorchamps track. Marc A. Hayek, President & CEO of the prestigious watch brand, not only achieved good results in the fourth leg of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, but is also taking part at this very moment and for the very first time in the famous 24 Hours of Spa endurance race. Moreover, in the fifth leg of the FIA GT1 World Championship, the Manufacture from Le Brassus lined up two Lamborghini Murciélagos and handled the official timing of the competition as the exclusive watch partner of this championship.

This full-fledged commitment in various categories confirms Blancpain’s worldwide leadership role in motor sports. On the track, the two drivers Marc A. Hayek and Peter Kox share the same determination to excel, and in its workshop, the Manufacture in Le Brassus demonstrates boundless creativity.

Blancpain has created an exceptional model dedicated to mechanical passion and to motor racing, a timepiece with a titanium case featuring a dial and lugs entirely made from carbon fibre. This chronograph endowed with a flyback function is distinguished by its appliques symbolising the tail-lights of the Lamborghini Gallardo and its oscillating weight shaped like a double chequered flag, while the alcantara strap subtly echoes the interior of these high-end sports cars.

Results in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo (Team Reiter Engineering):
Temperate but positive results for Marc A. Hayek and Peter Kox with a 5th place in the 1rst race and took the 3rd place in the 2nd race.

Results in the FIA GT1 World Championship (Team Reiter Engineering):
A great victory for the Blancpain Team, the duo Ricardo Zonta/Rafael Daniel, car 25, won the 1st place.

The next two legs of the Super Trofeo will take place in:

  • Budapest (Hungary), August 21st-22nd
  • Vallelunga (Italy), September 25th-26th
