March 2013: Girard-Perregaux has brought the finest of its young watchmakers to Australia to celebrate the launch of the adventure sports collection – ‘Hawk’.

For over two centuries, Girard-Perregaux has cultivated fresh, forward-thinking watchmaking minds. Its young masters, the “New Faces of Tradition,” follow in the footsteps of the illustrious personalities of the Swiss Haute Horlogerie Manufacture, paying tribute to its innovative history in nurturing a kind of creativity that has been Girard-Perregaux’s hallmark its entire existence.

The Sydney visit is part of a global tour in which the talent of this exceptional group of craftsmen and craftswomen is being showcased. Having already visited, Beijing, Miami and Le glacier d’Aletsch in the Alps, it is Sydney’s time to shine as a selection of watch enthusiasts and VIPs were invited to an event at the Park Hyatt. There, the Girard-Perregaux’s watchmakers demonstrated the intricacies of the movements they are manufacturing and conducted hands-on lessons.

The evening was also the occasion to showcase some of the latest timepieces from Girard-Perregaux including its new sport collection Hawk for its debut in Australia or the mesmerizing DLC Bi-Axial Tourbillon, a masterwork of technology combining two concentric cages that enable its regulating organ to make multidimensional rotations.

Steven Rom, CEO of Avstev, distributor of Girard-Perregaux in Australia said:
“Since 1791, Girard-Perregaux has given birth to some of the most exceptional timepieces. It is a company that believes firmly in growing talent. Watchmaking is an art in movement like the young creative persons who practice it! We are very proud to welcome the young Masters and showcase their art in Australia as the Hawk makes its debut.”

The new ‘Hawk’ range being presented this Friday March 8th, exudes energy in an avant-garde design. Forged by a manufacturing expertise, the launch of the ‘Sea Hawk’ and ‘Chrono Hawk’, confirms the position of Girard-Perregaux in the highly competitive world of top-level sports watches.

The ‘Hawk’ collection takes inspiration from the brand’s first-generation Sea Hawk conceived in the 1940s to position itself firmly in the 21st century. With the 44mm diameter case in stainless steel, the sharp edges of the case band, the hi-tech rubber wrist strap and the clear luminescent dials, the craftsmanship is striking.
