Giuliano Mazzuoli Manometro

The Watch Quote™ - December 8th, 2004

To inaugurate this section, which we’ve been planning for a while, we felt we really had to present a model with an exceptional story. A watch, or brand, that gets snapped up by the rich and famous, driven by the irrational appeal that sets fashions and trends. This watch, which is almost impossible to obtain other than by word of mouth, meets all these criteria. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to let you know more about our passion.

Lapo Elkann (heir to the Agnelli dynasty and Marketing director of the Fiat group) ), Roberto Cavalli (designer), Roberto Baggio (athlete), Vittorio Emanuele (Prince of Naples and Duke of Savoy, heir to the throne of Italy)... and our national teen idol, Monsieur Johnny Halliday in person… are all enthusiasts for the latest in watches by one of the greats in Italian design: GIULIANO MAZZUOLI.

A timeless watch, a designer object that will keep people talking for a long time to come…

Giuliano Mazzuoli
Born in 1947, Giuliano Mazzuoli has worked since the 1970s in the family firm created by his father in 1953 in Florence (Italy).

The company specializes in the manufacture of diary refills, index notebooks and other stationery products for the accounts of top Florentine leather workers.

In 1993, when he started working on a new layout for the diaries, his concept ended up in New York’s renowned Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). In 2001, he created “Officina Writing Instruments,” and launched “Moka”, a line of pens styled after the famous 1930 coffee pot design by Alfonso Bialetti. He achieved success, but his ambitions didn’t stop there. He began to dream up his own watch design…

When the “Manometro” was unveiled in September 2004, a limited number went on sale in Italy. Even Giuliano Mazzuoli could not have imagined the success that his new creation would have within just a few months. The designer’s idea, at once simple but ingenious, was to reproduce line for line the form of traditional manometers (used to measure pressure) to create the wristwatch. The Manometro’s elegant, simple to read dial, the pure lines of the steel case and the atypical position of the winding crown, made this new object an immediate success.

Designed in two versions, for right- and left-handed users, Manometro is available in several dial colours: Ivory, White, Dark Blue, and Black, as well as several colours for the bracelets. The Manometro’s case comes in two finishes: polished or satin.
Note the bracelet’s interestingly worked steel attachments, which make the watch a perfect fit for your wrist, while prominently highlighting the piece. True designer craftsmanship on a most remarkable piece.
