Seamaster Diver 300M “Commander’s Watch 007” Limited Edition

Ready for action

The Watch Quote™ - July 31st, 2017

Inspired by Bond’s rank and regalia, Omega has created the “Commander’s Watch”. The timepiece salutes the ensign colours of the British Royal Navy, with touches of white, blue and red found throughout the watch, creating a suave and stately look.

The 41 mm stainless steel case features a blue ceramic bezel with a Liquidmetal® diving scale and red rubber covering the first 15 minutes. The NATO strap is blue, red and grey and follows a 5-stripe pattern with a polished buckle.

"The Commander’s Watch salutes the ensign colours of the British Royal Navy."

The dial design
The dial of the watch is polished white ceramic and includes 12 blue indexes, the word "Seamaster" written in red and blue skeleton hands. Unique features include the 007 gun logo counterweight on the central seconds hand and the number 7 in the date window which is coloured red, while all other numbers are blue.

About-turn
On the wave-edged caseback, the stripes of the Commander’s naval insignia are featured on the rotor of the new Omega Calibre 2507. There is also a central 9mm "bullet" design which adds to the 007 touch. The stainless steel model is limited to just 7,007 pieces.

Commander Bond and the British Royal Navy

Omega watches were once issued to military divers around the world. In fact, the brand delivered more than 110,000 watches to Great Britain’s MoD in World War II. It is entirely plausible that Commander James Bond would have been issued with an Omeg watch.

Omega has been worn on the wrist of James Bond since GoldenEye in 1995

The presentation box

The Commander’s Watch comes with a 3-year warranty and is presented in a special box that has been inspired by a real medal case. The box also contains a stainless steel bracelet, a changing tool and a "naval pin" that mirrors the design of the NATO strap.

OMEGA and EON Productions celebrate the new James Bond inspired timepiece

At a special event in London on Wednesday, Omega proudly unveiled a new timepiece that celebrates the rank and regalia of James Bond. Known as the Seamaster Diver 300M “Commander’s Watch” Limited Edition, Omega President and CEO Raynald Aeschlimann revealed the watch alongside Bond film Producer Michael G. Wilson.

To bring the occasion to life, Omega transported guests by boat along the River Thames to arrive at the Tate Britain. The MC for the evening, Samantha Bond, then introduced Raynald Aeschlimann, who spoke to guests about the new watch and said, “James Bond is a character with a lot of depth and intrigue. We were fascinated by his connection to the Royal Navy, which is an organisation that OMEGA also has history with, and we wanted to pay tribute to his rank as Commander.”

2017 marks three noteworthy anniversaries for Albert R. Broccoli's EON Productions and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios’ (MGM) Bond franchise including: the 50th anniversary of “You Only Live Twice”; the 40th anniversary of “The Spy Who Loved Me”; and the 20th anniversary of “Tomorrow Never Dies.” In each of these films, James Bond can be seen wearing his official military uniform.

To celebrate these anniversaries, Omega created a unique watch design inspired by the red, white and blue colours of the Royal Navy as well as the Commander’s insignia itself.

As well as glimpsing the new Omega “Commander’s Watch”, guests were also treated to a display of historic props and artwork from the James Bond archive.

Omega has been the choice of James Bond since 1995, when the spy first wore a Seamaster watch in the film “GoldenEye”. Since then, the character and Omega have shared every on-screen adventure together.
