Double rotor

Titanium Collection, calibre P-181, module exclusively
manufactured for Perrelet, reference number : A5002/1

The Watch Quote™ - January 8th, 2008

Here, the “double rotor”, a pioneering model within the Perrelet collections and a veritable icon within the world of Swiss watchmaking, is the subject of a spectacular reinterpretation. The designers and engineers at Perrelet’s combined research and development centre have endeavoured to modify and adapt each of the additional module’s components in order to create a new configuration of the P-181 calibre developed in 1995 by the watchmakers of Perrelet.
The launch of this new collection is a futuristic homage to the creative genius of Abraham-Louis Perrelet, 230 years after the automatic rewinding mechanism with oscillating weight was invented, and 210 years after titanium was discovered by a British chemist.

An extremely light, resistant metal, titanium is generally used in the aeronautic and automotive industries and for numerous biomedical applications. Titanium is one of the most frequently used materials within the high-tech engineering industry.

Its aesthetic and mechanical properties have also ensured that its use has become de rigueur in the luxury watchmaking segment, winning a place at the heart of the Perrelet collections. One of the numerous innovative contributions the TITANIUM (Ti.) collection makes to the Perrelet universe is the use of natural rubber for the strap.

Its exclusive design, discreetly hallmarked with the brand insignia, blends perfectly with the solid titanium case, which measures 43.50 mm in diameter.

Additional modules

The additional modules are produced by Switzerland’s premium watchmakers in accordance with the strictest quality and finishing standards. They are subsequently assembled to the base movements engraved with Perrelet’s unique tapestry decoration and fitted with a central, glass-covered rotor which is internationally protected. Final adjustments and tests are carried out by the company’s master watchmakers before and after the movements are cased.

Case in solid titanium…

The design of the case which houses the models of the Titanium (Ti.) collection is strongly inspired by Perrelet’s traditional collections, while remaining radically different. The bold approach is confirmed by its far-reaching modification and reworking of the company’s traditional aesthetic codes in order to create an ultra-sporty model with strong character and personality. Titanium is approximately twice as light compared to stainless steel used in the world of top of the range watchmaking, facilitating the production of big size models which remain extremely pleasant to wear.
This material proves to be exceptionally non-corrosive in numerous contexts, such as in seawater or upon contact with the human skin. It joins gold and platinum as one of the most biocompatible materials, and contains absolutely no toxic elements.
Titanium is practically twice as hard as steel, a characteristic which ensures that the life span of the products is considerably longer. All the models of the Titanium (Ti.) collection are designed to be waterresistant to 100 metres (10 ATM).

Natural rubber strap

Natural rubber is not a chemical material gained from petroleum, but rather a vegetal, organic substance won from the sap of certain trees, notably the hevea, or rubber tree.
Like titanium, this material is extremely biocompatible and totally antiallergic. The folding buckle in solid titanium is the last, yet key element to provide comfortable wearing of this amazing timepiece in which all the different elements come together to form a unique result.

Efficient, innovative and functional

The futuristic vision offered by Perrelet to its clientele of connoisseurs is perfectly tailored to the demands of a contemporary urban and active lifestyle. The design also proves that it is possible to combine tradition and future, luxury and state of the art technology.
