C1 Tourbillon Gravity
The Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève 2008, Concord’s audacity as Design watch of the year
The Watch Quote™ - November 18th, 2008
The ambassador of a new generation of watches, the C1 Tourbillon Gravity has thrust Concord into an era of innovation and confirms a firmly futuristic approach to watchmaking. This horological instrument marks a new milestone in the brand’s journey to the heart of technology and engineering.
Born from the enthusiasm and the conviction of a passionate team, this timepiece was conceived, elaborated and assembled in only twelve months. Presented during Baselworld 2008, it caused a tidal wave in the watch industry. At the time, the press, the public and the industry celebrated the complexity of its mechanism, developed in collaboration with BNB Concept and applauded its aesthetical strength, created by blade Design.
This specimen reinvents mechanical precepts in a singular stage-setting. The hand-wound Concord caliber with a 3,5 days power reserve, displays time in a spectacular case; spectacular in terms of construction and of volumes. A tourbillon disconnected from the case, an unusual seconds indication, a flyback chronograph, a trust index display: all these specific features incarnate the audacity of a brand that reinvented itself just two years ago.
By honoring the C1 Tourbillon Gravity with the Design watch of the year award, the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève is honoring the performance of a brand, and acknowledging the power of design of the entire C1 collection, which anchors the art of time in audacity and innovation. It thus recognizes Concord’s contribution to the prestige of haute Horlogerie.
