Watch Richard Mille by Starck

auctioned for 320 000 €

The Watch Quote™ - September 25th, 2007

Thursday 20th September 2007 – A most exceptional Auction took place in Monaco. Organised by Antiquorum and supported by His Serene Highness Prince Albert of Monaco, all funds raised were to benefit the United Parent Projects Muscular Dystrophy (UPPMD) charity.

The money will be used to fund research into Muscular Dystrophy which is a genetic illness affecting one boy in 3500 every year.

As in 2005, a Richard Mille watch designed in collaboration with Philippe Starck was auctioned during the evening. A unique piece for which the bidding climbed to 320 000 €. In 2005, the Mille/Starck watch went under the hammer for 285 000€.

This year’s design was unexpected and bold. Add to this the technique and reliability with the complexity of integrating this titanium prototype into the bangle strap and Richard Mille and Philippe Starck have once again come up with a watch that makes no concessions.

The watch is chunky and contemporary with generous lines along the length of the strap and a gentle contour on the inside for added comfort. The movement itself with its adjustable rotor geometry is unique to Richard Mille and allows the rewinding of the mainspring to be adapted most effectively to the user’s activity level.

Thanks to the extraordinary talents of its two creators, this racy and stylish watch has been sold for a most worthy cause.

Richard Mille is delighted to have been able to contribute once again in raising funds for a Charity he considers particularly important.
